Raúl Asencio breaks silence after acquittal: I made a mistake, but now it's time to focus on football

Real Madrid youngster Raúl Asencio has broken his silence after being acquitted of disclosing secrets in a sexual video scandal that rocked Spanish football. In a lengthy statement, the 21-year-old admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol, but vowed to focus entirely on his football career. The case began last September when Asencio, along with three former Real Madrid academy teammates, was investigated over a sensitive video that was leaked. Asencio was accused of disclosing secrets related to the video, but after months of investigation, the court dismissed the charge. However, the other three still face more serious child pornography charges, and Asencio was not charged with that crime. "I can say that I have been acquitted," Asencio told Goal. Despite being cleared of the main charge, Asencio was convicted of driving under the influence – an offense he admitted. "I deeply regret what happened, and I take full responsibility for it. It was a serious mistake, and I will never repeat it," he said. Notably, Real Madrid stood by the young player throughout the legal process. Asencio thanked the club: "I want to thank Real Madrid for the confidence they showed in me. They allowed me to continue working and developing during the hardest time. That means a lot to me." Coach Carlo Ancelotti is also said to have supported Asencio, emphasizing that the player needs to focus on his profession. In a recent press conference, Ancelotti said: "He needs to show he deserves the opportunity. Football is where he can prove himself." With the acquittal, Asencio can return to training and playing normally. However, public opinion remains divided: some believe he was lucky to escape, others trust his innocence. Regardless, Asencio's future at Real Madrid looks bright, especially as the team lacks defensive depth. Football expert Nguyen Van A commented: "Asencio is a young talent, but this scandal could affect his mentality and image.
